Glad you got it working! Chances are it might have been battery related - despite plugging the device into a computer the device doesn't charge over USB when it's connected or if it does it's very slow.
When you plug a Pacemaker into your computer you'll notice how it enters 'charging mode' and then if you turn it on it then becomes visible to Windows and you see it as a Mass Storage Device eg. E:\. When in this mode I think because the hard-drive is active the battery actually drains, despite USB power. Perhaps it's possible after 12 tries as you said the battery had enough juice to complete the update because left in DFU mode the device is effectively in 'charging mode' again. I have no-idea if the firmware regulates device charging, if so then this might explain even why leaving it on for hours the device hadn't appeared to charge. Obviously if your firmware was damaged then it wouldn't be charging.

Again it's possible you were unlucky the first time when you installed the Beta Firmware initially and the battery died then? Who knows, but either way - glad we could help!.
Have fun mixing! :D

I was watching this thread for days like a soap opera. I now realize that you could take this thread, and make a movie out of it and:

8/10 people would launch out of their chairs cheering when the pacemaker came back to life.
2/10 people would remain seated, but sob softly tears of joy.
0/10 people would roll their eyes.
0/10 people would facepalm.

Jonas (inventor of Pacemaker), or his company 100mg paid our first subscription (can't remember if is 1 year or 3 years, I think the latter), in the interests in keeping his "baby" alive. He was pleased that there is still a fan base for Pacemaker and was happy to put his support behind us. Although both Pip & I have done some beta testing for them, and we have communications channels between ourselves and Jonas and his team, there are no other links or tying obligations between us. We are independant.

What was the reasoning behind you interest?

Errr, yes YOU!. Thanks for pointing it out. Another year (bit under) to go then.

But who's going to pay it? Jonas' offer was only for the first subs which was obviously just 2 years then.
I could pay it, but then why should I spend my money just so I can spend my time helping everyone else out?
I could appeal to members, but we don't seem to get anyone here these days unless they want some help in some way (mostly, but not all).

I'll set up a poll to see if members might consider a voluntary donation option to keep the site going. After all every new member that is an old Pacemaker user appears to be appreciative.
